WILLOW Grove motocross star Tomas Ravenhorst gained some much-needed valuable championship points in the Pro Open class at the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Albury-Wodonga on July 25-26.
The 20-year-old picked-up his first-ever win in the Pro Open class in Moto 1 on Sunday, July 26 closing the gap to 42-points to class-leader Dylan Long. “It was my first win in the Pro Open. I made a good start, made a quick pass and led pretty much from the start to the finish and won by a fair bit,” Tomas said.
“It was good to be up there,” he added. “The second race didn’t go too well. I got a rock through the radiator and I just tried to save the bike and ride around for some points. The third race went well.
“I stalled the bike halfway through and lost a fair bit of time and Ross Beaton just got around me and I finished third in that one. I finished third overall for the round,” Tomas said.
The privateer rider also finished in a very respectable fourth overall in the Pro Lites class on Saturday, July 25.
“The first race in the Pro Lites class went really well. I was four-points off third place and made up a fair few points. I was looking good in the second race but I just had a little dip-over which lost me a few spots which ultimately cost me third overall. Fourth-place; I’ll take it, but I’m definitely not happy with it,” Tom added.
Tomas, however, said he was happy with his performance in the Pro Open class at Albury-Wodonga. “I’m sitting second in the championship and I’ve gained a few more points. I’ll head to Ballarat and hopefully bring it home,” he added.
Tom would like to thank his sponsors, his parents and everyone who supports him.
The final round of the Pro Open class of the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships takes place at Ballarat’s Monza Park on Sunday, August 16. For more information please visit: www.motorcyclingvic.com.au.
