CURRENT Australian Women’s motocross champion, Madison Brown, is now a Victorian Women’s motocross champion for the second year running after taking out the coveted Ladies Expert class at the final round of the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Ballarat’s Monza Park on Sunday, August 16.

The 20-year-old successfully defended her state title on a cold and wind-swept mountain track, beating the likes of Courtney Whyte-Dennis, and Morgan Wright by 40-points and 54-points respectively.

The title caps-off a remarkable year for Maddy, who also competed overseas in the FIM World Women’s Motocross Championships, where her highest finish was a third overall in France in May.

“I’m really happy winning the title again,” Maddy said. “The racing yesterday was good. I got three wins so I was pretty happy that. It was good fun,” Maddy, who finished with eight wins out of a possible 11 races for the season, added.

“I won my first race pretty comfortably, having a decent lead throughout the race. In the second race, I tipped the bike in the corner but I picked it up in time and still managed to win that race and I won the last race as well,” Maddy, who coasted through the remaining two rounds undefeated, continued.

“I definitely want to defend the Australian and Victorian titles. I’m not sure what I’m doing for the rest of the year, as far as racing goes, but I’m not sure if women get a round in the upcoming Australian Supercross Championships which would be nice to try. I’ll just have to wait and see,” Maddy said.

“Next year I definitely want to go back over to Europe and race the full series of the FIM World Women’s Motocross Championships. I’m still waiting on word from Yamaha in Europe and they won’t really know until the end of this month so I’ll also have to wait and see,” she remarked.

Maddy would like to thank DPH Peter Stevens Yamaha Racing Team, her trainer Joe from Motocross Athlete Development, True Tune Suspension, Fox, Yamaha Australia, and her parents.
