9-YEAR-OLD Jackson Lyttle has just one round to go until he can be crowned Victoria’s 50cc Division 2 champion when the state’s top motocross competition for juniors – the 2015 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships – takes place at the Blue Rock Motorcycle Club at Newborough this weekend, August 1-2.
Jackson, from Cranbourne North, currently leads the 50cc Div2 class by 2-points over Jake Snow and 41-points over Jake Anderson.
Jackson picks Round 2 at Colac in May as his favourite round of the season so far. “I finished 1-1-1. It was a really good feeling. I just tried my hardest,” Jackson said.
The fledgling talent is looking forward to trying to win his first-ever trophy at Blue Rock this weekend. “I’m hoping I win. It’ll be my first trophy if all goes well. It’ll be really exciting,” he added.
Jackson is a big fan of the track at Blue Rock: “I really like the hills and the jumps at Blue Rock. It’s great.”
Jackson would like to one day turn motocross into a career and become someone like Australian motocross and supercross star Chad Reed. “That would be my dream,” Jackson continued.
Blue Rock Motorcycle Club president Brad West is expecting well-over 300 young riders to battle it out for hard-earned titles that will be decided on the weekend.
“There are a lot of new kids – like Jackson – getting into motocross so hopefully others can get along and have a look at the elite side of the sport,” the president said.
The final round of the Victorian Junior Motocross Championships takes place at Blue Rock Motorcycle Club at Coach Road, Newborough on August 1-2. Racing starts at 9am on both days.
Entries for the final round of the VJMXC close tonight, July 27 at 7PM at www.cloudentries.com.au.
