AUSTRALIA, VICTORIA, MILDURA. The field is set for the 2016 Hoggies Estate Wines Jason Lyons Solo Trophy on Friday, December the 30th at Olympic Park Speedway Mildura.
Headlining the field will be 2013 Australian Speedway Champion and 2015 Speedway Grand Prix Rider Troy Batchelor, new Queensland Speedway Champion and Australian World Cup Representative Davey Watt and reigning two-time Jason Lyons Trophy winner Justin Sedgmen.
Batchelor spent two seasons in the Speedway Grand Prix World Championship finishing ninth in 2014, after a mixed season this year he bounced back to near his best form with a win in Victorian Speedway Championship. The last time Batchelor rode at Olympic Park he took out the Leigh Adams Testimonial beating the Mildura Icon in his last meeting.
Watt will like to continue his great start to the Australian summer after his win in the Queensland title last weekend while Justin Sedgmen would like to maintain his status as the one to beat around Olympic Park.
Batchelor, Watt and Sedgmen are entitled to favouritism with their wealth of international experience riding at the highest level in England and Poland.
Three-time Victorian Champion Ty Proctor, local Mildura young guns Brodie Waters, Jordan Stewart, Cooper Riordan and Jaimon Lidsey will all fancy their chances taking points off the top three. Rounding out the nine-man Lyons trophy field will be the fast improving James Davies.
A ten rider support field of solos will also be on show some of the riders in the field are cult hero Chris Ferguson, local teenager Oliver Hamilton and the impressive South Australian youngsters in Dakota Ballantyne, Robert Medson and Brayden McGuiness.
A four rider 250cc class and our local sidecars will also feature in the meeting. For more information visit www.milduramotorcycleclub.org.au.
