HAMILTON motocross star Lachie Davis is now a Victorian champion; taking out the A-Lites class on Saturday, July 25 at the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Albury-Wodonga.

Lachie, 19, was thrilled to win his first-ever senior title after a hard-fought season. “It’s a great feeling. On Saturday, I had a good Moto 1 coming away with the win. It wasn’t quite as easy a win as I usually get. There were a few riders who were pretty quick on the weekend,” Lachie said.

Lachie took out the class by 56-points over Jake Salems and Brandon Johnson. Unfortunately, he dropped a race finishing fourth in Moto 2, ending his winning streak of nine race wins for the year.

“In the second race I had a bit of a crash in the second corner and that put me back in last. I started charging back and I crashed in the same spot later in the moto, which wasn’t ideal. I think I finished fourth in the end. It was a bit of a bummer that I lost my winning streak,” Lachie added.

“In the last race, I had another good one. I won that race as well. It was good, there was no pressure,” he added.

The VSMXC season is not over for Lachie as he still has one more round to go in the Under 19s class at Ballarat’s Monza Park on Sunday, August 16. He finished first overall for the round, picking up two wins out of three and is now 16-points ahead of Jake Salems.

“I won the first and second races in the Under 19s on Sunday where I got some really good starts. In the third race I got a shocking start. I tried to come from way back and almost passed into the lead on the last lap but I couldn’t quite get it done,” Lachie said.

Lachie will compete in the MXD Under 19s Championship at Round 8 of the 2015 NRGTV.com.au MX Nationals at Nowra this weekend, Sunday, August 2. “I had a really good round at Shepparton. I got sixth overall and finished fifth in Moto 2,” he added.

Lachie says it will be his last year in the A Lites at Under 19s class at the VSMXC. “I’m considering going onto a 450cc next year, perhaps into the Pro Lites class or the Pro Open,” Lachie remarked.

Lachie would like to thank Williams Full-tilt Racing, WBR Motorcycles, Waltanna Farms, Hamilton Gymnasium, and Scott Gear for all their support.

On the final round of the VSMXC at Ballarat, Lachie added: “I’m hoping I can stay safe between now and then so I can take out another title as well. I like the Ballarat track with the hills so that’ll be handy as well,” Lachie said.
