DYLAN LONG REVVING HIS WAY TOWARDS A VICTORIAN TITLE

BENALLA’s Dylan Long is just three races away from winning the Pro Open title at this year’s final round of the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Ballarat this weekend, Sunday, August 16.

Dylan, 20, has a 42-point lead going into the final round of the state’s premier motocross competition for seniors. Impressively, he’s won six out of a possible eight races so far this season.

“I won a couple of races at the last round of the VSMXC at Albury-Wodonga, and went onto Nowra, NSW and got a podium – my first race win at the MX Nationals – as well,” Dylan, who finished second overall for Round 8, said.

“I was really stoked when I won Moto2. It was probably the best moment of my career so far,” Dylan said.

“I’m definitely hoping for many more wins at the MX Nationals,” Dylan added.

On clinching the Pro Open title at Ballarat’s Monza Park this weekend, Dylan said: “I should be ready for Ballarat. It’s been awhile since I’ve ridden at Ballarat but it’s a good track and I hope it doesn’t rain and it’s a good round to finish the series.

“I’ve just got to keep my head and try and win the remaining races,” Dylan, who sits in front of Willow Grove’s Tomas Ravenhorst for the title, said. “It’s good to battle with one of your mates,” he added.

Dylan picks Round 3 at Maffra-Sale in June as one of his favourite rounds all season, where he won the overall.  “Maffra-Sale was pretty good but I actually enjoyed Albury-Wodonga. Tom won that first race, and it was good to see him win a race and be that excited.

“The track was gnarly with some deep ruts but it was still pretty fun. I had a really fun weekend there,” Dylan said.

Dylan won the 250cc A Grade open at the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships in 2013, and has won five junior Victorian titles. “I’m definitely aiming to win the title this weekend for sure,” Dylan said.

Aside from the VSMXC, Dylan will aim to finish the last remaining two rounds of the 2015 MX Nationals strongly, where he currently sits in seventh overall in the 450cc Pro championship. He’ll also compete in some selected rounds of the Australian Supercross Championships starting in October.

Dylan would like to thank his girlfriend Tori, all his sponsors and personal sponsors including Bret Trigg Visual, Nobby Underwear, UNIT, and NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki and Tattoo Racing.

The final round of the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships takes place at Ballarat’s Monza Park on Bergs Lane, Mount Helen on Sunday, August 16. For more information please visit: www.motorcyclingvic.com.au.
