HAMILTON motocross star Lachie Davis capped-off a memorable Victorian motocross season by winning the Under 19s class at the final round of the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Ballarat’s Monza Park on Sunday, August 16.

Lachie, who already won the A-Lites title last month at Albury-Wodonga, finished on top of the table by 7 points over Narre Warren South’s Jake Salems. He finished second overall for the final round, finishing with five solid wins for the year.

“I was pretty happy I took it out. I went to Ballarat and achieved what I aimed to do,” Lachie said. “I had a 16-point lead heading into the last round. It wasn’t the best round that I had all season, and it wasn’t exactly how I wanted it to go – with three seconds for the day – but it was still enough to get the championship so I was pretty stoked with that,” Lachie added.

“I was a bit frustrated; I had three crashes which put me behind Jake Salems, who was riding really well. I was happy with my lap-times but I kept making silly, little mistakes,” he added.

Lachie hopes to be able to afford to compete in the upcoming Australian Supercross Championships in October but said realistically he’ll have to save money so he’ll be able to compete in every round at next year’s MX Nationals. “I’d like to be able to compete in every round of the MX Nationals. It all depends if I have enough money for it,” Lachie, who also works full-time, added.

The 19-year-old currently sits in seventh overall in the Under 19s class at the 2015 MX Nationals with the remaining two rounds to take place in Queensland; Toowoomba on Sunday, August 23 (Round 9) and Coolum on Sunday, August 30 (Round 10). “I’d like to be consistent in my remaining two rounds, to not have too many crashes and finish pretty close to the top ten if I can,” Lachie added.

He would like to thank Williams Full-tilt Racing, WBR Motorcycles, Waltanna Farms, Hamilton Gymnasium, and Scott Gear for all their support this season. “I’d also like to thank Jake Salems for the great racing this year. He rode really well at Ballarat,” he said.
