UNITED STATES, Livingston, Ca – For us Aussies following the AMA Supercross via the tv or computer screen, seeing an Aussie line up in the Supercross gives us fans someone to cheer for. In the 250s, the Aussie is Hayden Mellross riding for 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Team. After 5 rounds of racing, Mellross just sits out of the top 10 (in eleventh place) 2 points behind equal 9/10th riders Mitchell Oldenburg and Mitchell Harrison. Mellross is known for consistency and will surely rise in the rankings as the season progresses.

“The 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Team raced through an exciting weekend in Oakland with both team riders finishing inside the Top 10. A meaningful race for the entire team as Oakland is the closest season stop to the 51FIFTY Energy headquarters as well the Race For Autism. The team bikes featured special RFA graphics highlighting the team’s support for the cause and 51FIFTY Energy’s Drink’s foundation.

Hayden Mellross and Kyle Chisholm were both in Heat 1 and quickly got up front at the drop off the gate under the sunlight in this unique ‘day’ race. Both avoided the first turn carnage and quickly put their Yamaha YZ250F’s up front for the entirety of the race. With good, tight battles, the fans in Oakland were treated to great heat race, as well as plenty of TV time on Fox. At the line, it was Mellross in 4th and Chisholm in 5th, respectively.

At the start of the 250 Main Event, Kyle Chisholm was once again one of the front-runners. Against the best factory bikes and riders, Chisholm powered his Brent Myron-tuned YZ250F into second. The challenging track wreaked havoc on the opening laps as carnage ensued for many riders. Mellross proceeded to fight his way from mid-pack, picking off riders en route to the Top 10 while Chisholm used his veteran experience to run up front with previous race winners. The 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha YZ250F’s put in some of their best times of the day even as the track deteriorated. When the checkers flew, both Chisholm and Mellross finished inside the Top 10, with Chiz in 8th and Hayden in 10th.

“Definitely happy with the progress we’ve been making,” said Chisholm. “The bikes looked so cool today with the Race for Autism graphics and I had a lot of fun from start to finish. My starts were on point once again and it was awesome to race up front with those guys. 8th is strong but I want to up in the Top 5 and making strides to get there.”

“The track was really challenging today but I had a great heat race and felt like I’d be up front in the main. I just didn’t get a good jump out of the gate but overall I’m satisfied with the outcome of the night,” Mellross stated after the race. “I feel like I continue to make strides in the right direction every weekend. Really happy to see the team get two Top 10’s and looking forward to keep that momentum moving forward.”” 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Team Press Release.
