AUSTRALIA, VICTORIA, HORSHAM. Horsham Motorcycle Club played host to the opening round of the 2018 Victorian Motocross Championships on the weekend (21/22 April 2018). In warm conditions, the Horsham Circuit was in pristine condition for racing with MX1 (Open), Under 19s and Women Classes.

Callum Norton onboard a new machine and new team (Honda) won the opening 20-minute moto by a hefty 42.365 lead over fellow Honda pilot Lachlan Davis. Angus Gelly led early before Norton set the fastest lap of 1:46.297 on the third attempt of the twelve lap moto. Joel Green finished third, James Alen in fourth and Angus Gelly in fifth.

Norton came out charging again in the second moto which lasted 11 laps setting the fastest time on lap three of 1:50.332 and would win the moto by 13.284 seconds. Joel Green finished third, James Alen in fourth while Mitchell Norris finished fifth.

In the final moto, Joel Green had the early lead as Callum Norton worked his way to the front setting the quickest lap time of 1:49.500 on lap six of the eleven lap moto, eventually winning the moto with a 7.382 lead over Joel Green. Lachlan Davis finished in third, Horsham member Cory Watts in fourth place and Mitchell Norris in fifth.

Overall for the round, Honda dominated the top five with Callum Norton (Honda) finishing the round undefeated with 105 points, Lachlan Davis (Honda, 94 points) sits in second place by two points over Joel Green (Honda 92 points). James Alen (Honda) sits in fourth on 81 points and Mitchell Norris (KTM) in fifth place with 77 points.
