Lawrence on the podium at High Point


Australian Hunter Lawrence has made his AMA Motocross Podium debut at the fourth round of the AMA Motocross at High Point finishing Second.

The Lawrence Family originally from Queensland, sold up everything to live a dream racing Motocross in Europe. The bold move started to pay off in Europe where Hunter was no stranger to the MX2 Podium. 2018, However, was rattled with a few injuries in his final year of the MX2 World Championship before moving to the United States after GECIO Honda snavelled the then teenager Hunter Lawrence. After relocating to the USA, Hunter suffered an injury practising for Supercross and made the decision to concentrate on Motocross and not try to find his Supercross feed mid-championship.

In his AMA Motocross debut, Hunter finished 11th at Hangtown (Round 1) with an 11th and a 12th finish. Fox Raceway (Round 2), Hunter had a troublesome opening moto after an altercation with Jordon Smith while in the lead resulting in a 37th place finish. However, he regrouped for a 2nd place finish for a 9th overall. Thunder Valley (Round 3) Hunter finished 10th and 7th for an 8th overall.

Round 4 High Point, Moto 1: Lawrence worked his way through the starting pack early to lead the moto while all the action happening behind him. Series leader Adam Cianciarulo was unable to reel in Lawrence’s 7-second gap lead, sitting in second place for a majority of the moto. Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis finished 3rd.

Round 4 High Point, Moto 2: With a great start, Lawrence placed himself in 4th during the opening lap. Lawrence was a magnet to his teammate Chase Sexton, they worked their way to the pointy end. With Adam Cianciarulo grasping the lead around the 20-minute mark passing Colt Nichols. Sexton kept strong during the moto with Lawrence in tow, Sexton finishing 2nd and Hunter Lawrence third.

Hunter Lawrence now sits in seventh overall in the Championship.
