Beaton Sixth while Evans under injury cloud

Day 2 of the MXGP of Germany (23 Jun 2019) Teutschenthal did not disappoint race fans. In thirty degree sunny conditions, the Australian duo of Jed Beaton and Mitch Evans flew the flag in the MX2 Class.

Jed Beaton set the fastest lap time in the morning Warm-Up session while Mitch Evan set the fourth fastest time.

Race 1, After a good start, the fourth lap is where it all came unstuck for Jed Beaton losing the front end of his machine with his head being used as a grader disc in the sand along the side of the track while in fourth position. Beaton regrouped quickly and remounted in eighth position. Beaton would finish the race in sixth place. Mitch Evans also had a good start and was running fifth early in the moto, a little shuffle back to seventh before moving back to fifth. While pushing hard trying to pass Thomas Kjer Oslen trying to gain fourth place, Evans caught an edge, was ejected from the bike, and slammed into the face of the next obstacle. Winded, Evans would stand looking very sore before remounting his bike in twenty-fifth position, but the return to racing for short-lived for race fans as Evans pulled into the pitlane and was not seen out on the track for the rest of the day.

Race 2, Jed Beaton grabbed a good start in seventh place. Beaton would work his way to fifth place. In a race that saw bikes expire, and riders cartwheel down the track, Beaton was consistently fifth for a majority of the moto, and finishing in fifth place successfully navigating the deep ruts of Teutschenthal with a sixth overall for the MXGP of Germany.

Jed Beaton sits in eleventh overall in the MX2 World Motocross Championship, while Mitch Evans sits in Seventh.
