Oh my, this is hard to write. It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart (fighting back tears) that Western Region Junior Motocross Athlete Sam Chilton was tragically taken from us Thursday Afternoon (14 February 2019) at Allansford, Victoria.
“Sixteen-year-old cyclist Sam Chilton was trying to cross the Princes Highway on his way to cricket training when he was involved in a fatal accident on Thursday afternoon.” reported the Warrnambool based ‘The Standard’ newspaper.
The Chilton family is heavily involved with the Warrnambool and Shipwreck Coast Motorcycle Clubs. Tributes to Sam have overflowed social media being remembered for his character, smile and motocross mentorship.
“On behalf of the Western region it’s with a saddened heart we send our condolences to Tracey, Neil, Stephen and the extended Family.” Wrote Kenny Watts Western Region Motocross President.
“No one can believe Sams gone. We’ve all lost a Son, Nephew/Brother and a mate. Sam was a bubbly great young fella who’s passion for racing was matched with having fun and a laugh. If words could fix the hurt that everyone is going through I’d put it up, but there isn’t and all we can do is be there for you all. Rip Sam #55” concluded Watts.
Sincere deepest condolences to Tracey, Neil, Stephen and family. Sam was a genuine young lad with a smile and laugh that could light up a room and will be dearly missed.
