Febvre to sit out Assen

Romain Febvre suffered a concussion at the MXGP of Turkey, after setting the fastest lap time in the first practice session, Febvre was forced to sit out the seventeenth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Afyon, and now has been forced out of the MXGP of The Netherlands (Assen) this weekend (16th September).

MXGP.COM reports:

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Romain Febvre, who crashed out of the MXGP of Turkey 10 days ago, will not participate in the MXGP of The Netherlands that will take place at the Dutch TT Circuit in Assen this weekend.

After setting the fastest lap time in the first practice session at the MXGP of Turkey, Febvre suffered from a heavy fall in the second session that resulted in a broken rib.

Febvre returned to his home, in Belgium, after the Grand Prix and used the weekend off to rest and recover from the impact. He tried to ride for the first time since the accident earlier this week where he confirmed that the rib is not yet healed. Due to the immense pain he was experiencing, the 26-year-old Frenchman has decided to withdraw from the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend.

Despite missing the most recent Grand Prix, Febvre remains fifth in the MXGP Championship Standings. An update on his condition and his return will be shared on www.yamaha-racing.com and all of Yamaha Racing’s Official Social Media platforms.

With the MXoN scheduled for Red Bud 07 October, the French Federation will be hoping for a full recovery, or will the French Federation try to rebuild the bridge they burned with Marv? It will surely be an interesting few weeks in the Motocross of Nations World, and the next question would be if Marvin Musquin accepts a place on the French team. The 2018 French des Nations team is currently Romain Febvre, Gautier Paulin and Dylan Ferrandis.

“No, I didn’t refuse to race for Team France,” Musquin declared on his Facebook page. “Yes, they didn’t pick me even though I was ready, motivated… and the calendar was not an issue. It was in our plan for months already!”
