EUROPE. The 2018 off-season has been a hectic one with many changes of teams, which has continued right up to the start of the season…
The Yamaha Outsiders team kept quiet about their plans during the winter, and that’s because the Team Manager has sealed two impressive deals by confirming the continuation of their two riders: Loïc LARRIEU (F) and Jamie MCCANNEY (GB)!
Both riders reached the end of their contracts at the end of 2017, but LARRIEU and MCCANNEY have decided to extend their stay with the blue crew in 2018, with a further option for 2019! With two vice-champion titles (EGP for LARRIEU and E2 for MCCANNEY), Team Manager Marc BOURGEOIS and Yamaha decided to retain these two top enduro riders. In 2018 they will have one goal: the world title!
We know that LARRIEU is already training on the new 2018 Yamaha WR450F and will be a great contender in the E2 and EnduroGP classes. The Frenchman already showed a hint of his potential during the Endurance St-Thibéry, last weekend.
For his part, 2015 Junior World Champion, MCCANNEY, will represent Yamaha in the E1 class. In 2017 the Manxman proved he had all he needed to be fast on a “small” bike and he will be the big favourite in the category after the decision of Eero REMES (SF – TM) to ride in E2.
Marc BOURGEOIS: “This year, taking the titles in both categories is our only objective. Jamie and Loïc are entering this season in excellent form and our team is now perfectly well prepared and equipped to face this 2018 season, which looks like a very interesting one.
In addition to having the weapons to fight in E1 and E2, Yamaha Outsiders also possess, in MCCANNEY and LARRIEU, two riders capable of taking the supreme scratch title of EnduroGP World Champion. Whilst they may not have made a lot of noise during this off-season, it is likely that the Japanese brand held dear by the late Jean-Claude OLIVIER, has made two of the best recruitments of 2018…
We will find out on March 17 and 18 at the legendary Päijänne Enduro!
